Cheadle Hulme Location Leaders
Helen Wilson
Helen Wilson started coming to Ivy in 2017 and stayed due to the welcome she received and the Grow Group that supported her settling into Manchester. She works as a hospital pharmacist and loves walking in the hills, reading, cooking and a good chat. Helen has been involved in the welcome team, leading a prayer group for Cheadle Hulme and recently enjoyed studying with Westminster Theological College.
Gav Lightbown
Gav has been at Ivy for just over 3 years, after coming back to God on a wonderful day back in 2021. Since walking through the doors at Ivy he has been on such an incredible adventure, getting to know Jesus better and better and enjoying a fantastic relationship with him, serving on the tech team, the worship team, the hosting team and the men's ministry team (so far!). Gav is married to Amanda and they have four boys who are the perfect guinea pigs for his awful dad joke collection. Come and say hi if you see him, it would be great to chat and get to know you.
Information for you
Accessibility
We wholeheartedly embrace the belief that every individual is created to worship God and can be fully welcomed into our supernatural community, just as Jesus welcomed people. We strive to create an environment that is genuinely inclusive, welcoming, and accessible to everyone so that all can participate in our community through worship and discipleship.
Our goal is to foster a culture of acceptance, respect, and understanding for people of all abilities. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone is valued and recognised, and where barriers, whether physical, communicative, or sensory, are proactively addressed and reduced. We welcome open dialogue and feedback as we work to continually enhance our accessibility efforts.

Physical access to our buildings
We have taken proactive measures to ensure our church buildings are physically accessible to individuals with disabilities.
Step-Free Access
Our facilities are either designed or adapted to accommodate wheelchair users and feature accessible entrances. All doorways are wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs and mobility aids.
Parking
Designated accessible parking spaces are located near the main entrance. These spaces are clearly marked and reserved for those with accessibility needs, whether acute or chronic.
Seating
Our seating is flexible, and spaces are available for wheelchair users and those who require additional legroom or support.
Toilets
There is one fully accessible toilet for wheelchair users accessed from the central area and additional ambulant toilets accessed from the corridor of the Brockbank Centre.
There is also one fully accessible toilet accessed from the central area of the Pavilion building. This has a pull cord ring for assistance alert as well.
Sensory Adaptations
Recognising the diverse needs of our congregation, we offer sensory adaptations to facilitate an accessible experience to as many people as possible.
Quieter Spaces
We recognise that some individuals may need a quieter space during services or events. We have areas where the sound levels are reduced, please ask anyone in a blue t-shirt for more guidance.
Sensory Boxes
We offer sensory boxes at the main entrances which contain various items to help those with sensory processing needs.
Lighting & Haze
We do not use any form of strobe lighting, moving lighting or haze within our services or events.
Assistance Dog Friendly
Assistance dogs are welcome in all areas of the church.
