Giving

One of Ivy’s values is to be generous: we love to serve others and give of our time, talents and treasures. Whether we meet in person or online, your giving matters so that we can continue the ongoing legacy of this church in the community, especially as needs and opportunities are changing. You can give back to God at any time as an act of response and worship to what God has given to you.

FAQ’s

Why give?

We give because he first gave to us. We believe we are stewards and not owners of all God has given to us and giving back to him financially is part of our worship.

What is the best way to give?

We are grateful for every gift given to the Church by any method. We especially encourage giving via the bank as this is the most efficient and cost effective method for us to receive gifts.

How do I set up a monthly gift?

We believe in the principle of tithes and offerings. A tithe literally means tenth and can be given on a regular basis as you receive income. For many this is on a monthly basis and a bank standing order (S/O) is an easy way of arranging this - Ivy Church's bank details can be found above.

Other methods include giving via card and PayPal - more details on these methods can also be found above.

Can I give as a one off?

Yes! If you would like to make an offering at any time, please use the options listed above. Make sure to use a reference if you would like the gift to be used for a specific purpose.

What is Gift Aid and how can I add it to my giving?

Gift Aid allows UK charities to claim back the basic rate tax, already paid by the giver on donations, from HMRC. If you are a UK taxpayer, and have paid or will pay sufficient income or capital gains tax, Gift Aid increases the value of your donations by 25%, so it means that your gift goes even further – and won’t cost you extra. To complete a Gift Aid declaration, please fill in the Gift Aid declaration above. Around 20% of our budget each year is funded through Gift Aid so it is hugely important to us.

How will my gift be used?

Everything we do together as a church is only possible because of your giving. From our CAP ministry to our work with young people, from the Ivy Cafe at Cheadle Hulme to our Sunday services, from heating and lighting our buildings to employing a staff team of equippers - everything is invested in our mission to help more people find their way back to God.

How can I get a copy of my giving statement?

We send a Statement of Donations annually for your records and you can request a giving statement at any time by emailing our team at finance@ivychurch.org

Can I give via cash & cheque?

Yes. There is an opportunity to give via cash and cheque using our giving envelopes at every Sunday service.

Can I leave a gift in my will for Ivy Church?

Yes. We have been the beneficiaries of legacy gifts from members of the church in the past and continue to be so. If in planning for your future you would like to include Ivy Church then please include the following details within your will.

Ivy Manchester Ltd
97 Barlow Moor Road
Manchester M20 2GP
Charity number: 1134458

How do I set up payroll giving?

Many employers offer payroll giving or ‘give as you earn’ schemes which allow you to give directly to Ivy Church from your salary before tax is deducted. This means if you give £100 per month and are a basic rate taxpayer, the gift will only cost you £80 from your net pay. If you pay a higher rate of tax, £100 a month will only cost you £60 from your net pay. To find out if your employer offers Payroll Giving, contact your HR office. You can also check if your employer offers a matched giving scheme.

Please note: if you use payroll giving, your gifts will not be eligible for gift aid, as you will not have paid tax on the amount.

How do I give through a charitable aid agency?

You may wish to give via a charitable aid agency such as Stewardship, CAF, Charities Trust, or Charitable Giving. These agencies, which we are recognised by, are useful for those who give to multiple charities and wish to have their giving recorded in one place or for those who wish to give anonymously to the church.

What if I’m concerned about a vulnerable person giving to Ivy Church?

We regularly say that you should only give from what you have and not be in a position where you could go into debt after having given.

If you have any concerns about your individual circumstances and need professional support to go from the financial stress of debt into financial peace then please contact CAP on 0800 328 0006.

If you have any concerns about another individual in the church known to be giving, including those who may be suffering in a time of acute stress such as bereavement or could be considered financially vulnerable then please complete a Cause for Concern safeguarding form and we will respond accordingly.

What if my question is not listed here?
